The Man Room

I just love old globes. You know the ones... the ones with the perfect blue/green color. It was a huge obsession for a long time. In my old house, we built a wall unit especially for them and a vintage map. It was perfect... then a few months later we moved. We moved to a bigger house so the girls could have their own room. In the new house the only thing my husband asked for was to have one room that he could decide what went in it. I think that's pretty fair considering he lets me make the rest of the house as girly as I want. We call it the "man room" . Here's what he wanted....a big t.v., leather reclining chairs, and a monkey drinking booze print hanging above the bar.! I think I can live with that.


The frame on the bar really isn't empty. It is a poem my youngest wrote me when she was six. I just adore it.

Goodie Bags

I went to an Estate sale with a friend on Saturday. We were a little late but got there before 9:30. It didn't matter. This house was jammed packed with goods and everything seemed to be reasonably priced. I love these kind of sales. Lots of good, cheap stuff.!! All of the good furniture pieces were gone but in the attic and in the basement, there were boxes and boxes full of goodies.
Lately, I have been collecting small vintage items that I can group together and sell in little baggies. They make me happy just looking at them. I will list a few on my Etsy shop this week and add a few to my booth in Milford.

My Creative Kids

I was blessed with two beautiful, healthy, funny, kind, and very creative children. At an early age I let them "do crafts" every day. I say crafts because I don't know what else to call them. I guess you could say I let them make "messes". I never really believed that we should show our kids "what" to make but give them the materials and see what they create. It has been fun to watch and see how each of their talents have grown over the years. Zoe, my oldest, who is now 13 (boy, do I feel old) created her version of a Picasso when she was just 5, sold her first painting at 8, and now spends her free time sketching clothing designs that she has created. Rowan, my youngest, who is now 9 shows her creativity in different ways. Yes, she can draw well. I always can pick her art work out in class before I read the names. But the way she shows her creativity is by finding unusual ways to use things. She has the ability to turn any piece of garbage into something pretty neat. She also has recently taken up photography. Any animal, rodent or bug that comes into our yard gets it's picture taken.
